Asialogue 2002-2003

Adhi returned from Asia in mid-April after spending six months (Nov. 2002-April 2003) travelling through Burma from Rangoon to Mandalay, Thailand from Bangkok to Surat Thani to Ubon Ratchathani, Cambodia from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, and India from Bangalore to Calcutta to Dehli and Dehra Dun to Bodh Gaya, and many locations along the way.  Highlights included meeting many venerable monks, notably Thai Ajahns, Burmese Sayadaws, Tibetan Lamas, Sri Lankan and Indian Bhantejis, visiting great and ancient pagodas in Burma like Shwe Dagon, Thailand’s glorious wats, and pilgrimage sites in India like Bodh Gaya and Varanasi.  Adhi participated in an amazing and glorious pagoda dedication in Preceptor U Kosalla’s village in Burma and went on retreats in Thailand. In Mysore India Adhi facilitated a weeklong retreat for 350 children, 20 teachers, six dorm wardens and two monks through the Maha Bodhi Society School (http://www.mbodhi.com).  Materially he offered food, clothing, school supplies and stickers to the needy whereever he went.  Adhi has been invited back for future retreats and projects in 2004 and 2005 in India, Burma, Cambodia, Thailand, and possibly Sri Lanka and hopes to raise the necessary funds (projected $10K plus expenses) to accomplish this important mission.
